5 Annoying PUG Groups that Drive Us Insane

I’m a patient guy, I really am. I love teaching people things even if they don’t get it the first time. However, when I am playing my MMO there are some people who drive me insane.
Enjoy…

Every now and again as an MMO gamer you are forced to participate in a PUG. (AKA a Pick Up Group) These contain the cream of the crop and by cream I mean dirt that sinks to the bottom and by crop I mean crap. I don’t know what it is about a PUG but the dumbest most frustrating people seem to come out of the wood works to join the group. In the end you have 5  different types of groups. Here they are…

"So ya next time just a little heads up, don't pull the entire zone"

"So ya next time just a little heads up, don't pull the entire zone"

1. The N00b Group

In this group every one is new to the game…even at the level cap. With this group expect to wipe often and explain every step in detail. There’s the caster that DPS’s too much and continues to die. There is the healer that likes to throw everything on the tank and pull aggro right off the bat, or watch TV and forget to heal at all. There’s the tank who thinks he can pull whole rooms because hes “just that cool” and doesn’t seem to look around and see 4 mobs on each of the other members. With this group you have to explain how to play each class in detail, over and over. Don’t expect to kill any named’s or bosses but you might be able to get some quests done…if they can find their way to the quest NPC.

2. The Busy Life Group

This group accomplishes nothing but wasting loads of your time. You get the group together, get to where your going, and start but then some one has to go. That’s alright, you still have a tank and a healer and some DPS. You move through and then it starts. The tanks has to go AFK to feed his dog. You wait what seems like 3 hours seeing what in the room you can jump onto and  start sit/stand’ing every group member. He comes back but now the healer is AFK getting something to eat. 45 minutes later your back at it and the healer has to go. Another 45 minutes later you have a replacement and work your way in farther. The tank takes a few more AFK’s to do errands he should have done before he got on and then after another 30 minutes afk comes back to tell you he has to go. The group explodes and every one goes home with 1% exp in the bank and 3 hours wasted.

3. “Each to his/her own little world” Group

In this group every member is a solo’er who apparently does not know what it means to work together. The DPS is off in their own part of the instance while the healer follows the tank even if the other players are dying some where else. You tell every one to meet at the camp and watch each dot on the map go who knows where doing who knows what. Literally forcing you to PM them with “He wrong continent dude” to which they reply “I’m just turning in another quest real quick”….. Really? REALLY? Really? If your lucky they might accomplish what they set out for but they will spend most of their time retrieving each person as they wander off to some remote place of the instance to die. Waiting to be rezzed or picked up by their forgiving group.

4. The Disappearing Group

Finally a group that’s going to do that quest you have been needing! You accept the invite and head off on your way. Running for miles through dangerous places to reach the group who is already in progress. Once you arrive, the tank is heading to bed and every one logs off. You are left alone, with nothing but wasted time to keep you company. This is the butt end of the #2 Group. You spend a bunch of time and trouble to get there and they say “forget it” and go home. Cool thanks.

5. The “Not what I signed up for” Group

Again, you respond to a tell about a group forming to do this or that which your interested in but when you get there the groups mission changes. “Hey can we kill this guy real quick?” “Can you guys help me finish this part of this quest”. “ok so were not gunna do this instance but a much easier one you have done 100 times already” The reasons go on, but the annoyance is the same. You end up wasting even more time doing something you don’t want to do. Oh and did I mention they don’t tell you straight out. They’ll lead you into it until 3 hours of your precious time are gone and you have accomplished nothing you set out to do. Awesome.
